Fresno Bike Park

Fresno, California just recently opened their gates to one of the biggest BMX facilities in the world. Their park looks insane, and they hope to draw revenue for the city by people visiting this amazing place. We want a world class spot just like this in Tucson and I hope the Kory Laos park can top it! I'm going to do a little research and find out who the builders were and cost of construction. This is something we can look forward to. One flaw in this video, they show directions/hours and have a picture of BMX racing. This is another barrier as riders we have to overcome, we don't race damn it! Well, only in August.

The BMX Bike Park in Fresno was designed by Zach Wormhoudt and built by GeoCon Engineering, Inc. Although the park is awesome and built to the highest quality and standards the contractor was never paid the complete contract amount and has been forced to file a claim, which could take years and bankrupt any business that is forced to go down this path. That leaves less qualified builders to do these types of parks.

Do you know the cost of construction? How did the city choose GeoCon? Has GeoCon built other parks, if so which ones? Thanks for the info.

Cost of Construction 1.4 million dollars. GeoCon has a website of previous projects: www.geoconengineerng.com. All Public Works projects by law go to the lowest bidder. Typically, the architects write in strict qualification requirements in order to have only qualified builders do this type of work.
